The Gateway acts as a hub in which all information is collected and stored, working either as a base station or a repeater. Equipped with two radios for short- and long-range communications between sensors and gateways respectively, it has the capability to connect to other networks to allow greater system flexibility.
The short-range radio enables communication with all deployed sensors through the mesh network within a 1 km range. The long-range radio relays sensor data and imagery at a distance of up to 15 km between Gateways. An extended communication range can be achieved by deploying several Gateways in repeater mode. The Gateways can be connected to 3G/4G modems, Satcom or any other backhaul network via TCP/IP, to enable remote communication and control.
The Gateway can be configured in three different modes, base station, repeater (acting as a relay), and mobile base (acting as a mobile base station). It can be deployed as an autonomous base without having a computer connected to the network, to store data from deployed Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) for later retrieval. The system can operate unattended for months.
